April 21st Google rolled out a much expected search algorithm update boosting the ranking of mobile-friendly pages on mobile searches. There has been a lot of confusion about the impact of the change. Some people has even gone as far as describing it as Mobilegeddon. But just how comprehensive is this change in reality? Here are three important things to note from the update.

What you need to know about Googles new mobile-friendly search algorithm:

  1. It only affects searches performed on mobile devises. This means that the update has no effect on searches made from tablets and desktops.
  2. The update affect search results in all languages from all locations.
  3. It is a page-level change. Mobile-friendly pages will be favorized over non mobile-optimized pages, but individual mobile-friendly pages on a website will not be negatively affected just because the rest of the website is not mobile-friendly.
