“Sex sells” is one of the oldest trick in the book. Don Draper famously asks “says who?” in an episode of Mad Men, but old habits still seem to die hard. This week’s news were heavily skewed towards sex:
- British newspaper The Sun created a storm by first claiming, and then denying, that they were going to stop publishing pictures of topless women on their page 3. “We would like to apologize to all print and TV journalists that have spent the last days writing and talking about us” they said, a bit sarcastically.
- Swedish organization RFSU posted an instructional sex video on Youtube and quickly got more than 2 million views. Interestingly enough, the videos also gained a lot of attention in Thailand and Saudi Arabia.
- Finally, TV7 will be airing a new season of The Bachelor, as well as a “love edition” of reality show Robinson. Perhaps this is a way of riding on the success of the format Paradise Hotel, a show clearly dedicated to naked skin and romantic intrigues.
