Students and creative professionals alike gathered at the Newport Performing Arts Theater at the Resorts World Manila to hear from a diverse roster of industry thought leaders at the Adobo 4th  Festival of Ideas:  “Creativity at the Heart of Digital:  Tech, Data, and AI”.  In a joint session, PHD Singapore’s Head of Strategy, Ronnie Thomas and Omnicom Media Group’s Torie Henderson, CEO South East Asia & India presented ‘Merge | The closing gap between humanity and us’.

Henderson opened the session by discussing how both society and the industry is witnessing the fastest tech revolution that mankind has ever seen. Her introduction was  followed by a screening of PHD’s Merge documentary.

Merge sets out how technology and human evolution has progressed since the 1950s, and how technological advances over the next 25-35 years will reshape society and the marketing industry. Drawing on insights and foresights of experts including world-leading inventor, author and futurist (and writer of the foreword), Ray Kurzweil, Merge discusses the five stages of the evolutionary road between 1950 and 2050, culminating in technology and humanity fusing together – both symbolically and literally.

Following the documentary, Thomas spoke on the eight tech opportunities that every business should be aware of.  Henderson then ended the discussion by offering the audience guidance on what brands, agencies and the media can do today to prepare their businesses for tomorrow.
