PHD Ghana’s digital media planners participated in a special webinar hosted by Facebook last week, to train social media executives on how to create and deploy its latest video advertising format, “Slideshow”.

They were joined by social media executives from Millicom Ghana, a leading mobile network provider and operators of the digital lifestyle brand Tigo and Viasat 1, the television station with the highest fan base on Facebook in Ghana. Also in attendance were two digital media strategists and a mobile web developer from Ronin Africa and YouGora respectively.

Facebook rolled out the new “Slideshow” video ad feature to overcome slow connectivity speeds in many parts of the world. The social network’s aim is to make it easier for brands to reach millions of potential consumers, who currently rely on old phones or 2G and 3G networks, while also helping small businesses with little video knowledge to create engaging ads.

The webinar was organised by the Facebook for Business team from its HQ at Menlo Park, California, and facilitated by Jennifer Spies of the emerging markets product marketing team based in London. This is the first in a series of agency and business development activities agreed on by Facebook and PHD Ghana during a 3-day visit by PHD Ghana’s MD/CEO, Bright Ladzekpo, to Facebook’s London HQ offices earlier this month.

After hosting the participants to the webinar locally at the agency’s offices, Bright said “we decided to invite a few key clients and partners to share in this media technology skill acquisition and interaction opportunity with advertising product experts from the world’s leading social media network, to underscore our commitment to providing smart solutions to all our clients through a metric-led and technology-enabled approach to our media and communications planning services.”
