In line with PHD’s rapid growth and expansion in Asia Pacific, PHD – part of Omnicom Media Group – has today announced the opening of its 19th office in the region with the launch of PHD South Korea, bringing the network total to 89 offices globally.

In a year that saw the PHD network appointed to the US$3bn global media business for the Volkswagen Group, heralding significant opportunity for growth in APAC, the agency also had  significant new business wins across the region from Carnival, Swisse, GSK, Revlon and Allianz to name but a few.

South Korea, a vibrant and progressive market with a growing online economy, was deemed a natural fit to launch PHD and illustrates Omnicom Media Group’s commitment to grow capabilities there.

To kickstart PHD’s operations in South Korea, HeeYoun Yang has been appointed as managing director. HeeYoun has over 22 years of experience in strategic media planning, digital and joins PHD from Proximity Korea where she was the General Manager. In her new role, HeeYoun will oversee and lead PHD’s South Korea operations.

Mike Cooper, CEO of PHD Worldwide said, “The launch of PHD South Korea is a hugely exciting step in the growth of the network across the region. The past few years of new business success with Volkswagen Group and other key wins has led to significant growth both in terms of entering new markets and the great talent we are bringing into the business. I’m delighted that HeeYoun has taken on the role in this extremely exciting market.”

Susana Tsui, CEO PHD Asia Pacific said, “South Korea is one of the most economically progressive nations in the world.  Their culture embraces innovation and technology which are the key factors that keeps South Korea competitive, resilient and top of their game – attributes which resonates with PHD’s DNA.  HeeYoun is the perfect choice to be my partner in Korea.  Her entrepreneurial spirit, her fight and her determination is a natural match to ensure that we have a strong PHD offering that will cement PHD’s presence. ”

PHD’s regional head of planning and strategy, Chris Stephenson, recently showcased the agency’s latest thought-leadership “Predestination | Where we are all heading” at Spikes Asia festival of creativity, looking at future tech trends and their potential for marketers.  Such forward thinking and innovation offered by PHD will be embraced by PHD South Korea to engage audiences and drive conversations with clients and partners.
