PHD, part of Omnicom Media Group, has placed first in RECMA’s latest global ranking measuring new business wins throughout 2016.  The Major Wins report is based on global and regional wins between January and September 2016, showing how networks are competing in share of adspend from the top advertisers.

Additionally, PHD held the top spot across regions, coming number one in the league tables for North America, EMEA and Asia Pacific.

The report follows RECMA’s Pitch Cycle report, which shows PHD with a score ‘double the average’ performance of all agency Group’s.

PHD has had an exceptionally strong new business performance this year, seeing the network also take the top spot on the global new business league published by independent marketing research consultancy R3. PHD has held the number one position since June for the R3 league tables, which are published each month and track the performance of agencies based on their overall new business revenue.

PHD secured the $3 billion media planning and buying business for the Volkswagen Group in June, beating WPP’s MediaCom and Interpublic’s Mediabrands in what is the biggest global media pitch of 2016 and the largest consolidated account win in history.

The account for the German car maker, the world’s fifth biggest advertiser, sees PHD responsible for managing eight VWG brands; Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, Skoda, Porsche, Bentley, VW Commercial Vehicles and MAN, across 35 markets as of January 2017.

PHD also won significant business for Carnival, Delta, Old Navy and Mailchimp this year and grew business with existing clients like Bayer and Ferrero.
