What’s happened this week:

  • Twitter have rolled out two updates their platform introducing native video and group messaging via DM
  • Snapchat launched a ‘Discover’ feature with media companies such as Vice, CNN, Yahoo News, Comedy Central, and National Geographic to bring news to users in the form of Snapchat stories
  • Google is rolling out a payment system that allows Gmail users to pay friends and family

 

What we have learned:

  • Apple are enjoying strong profits, predominantly driven by iPhone sales, although iPad sales have slowed
  • Facebook tests Bluetooth ‘Beacons’ as it looks to further localise content in users feeds
  • Sundance is aiming to use data transparency to help improve pitch successes and demystify post box office success
