America’s favourite Bananas – Chiquita, recently ran a campaign in conjunction with Universal Pictures’ Minions film, resulting in a 50% return rate to the image recognition-enabled content, a 10% increase in newsletter subscriptions and an 8% increase in banana sales. The campaign enabled consumers to use their smartphones tomscan Chiquita Banana stickers to unlock digital content such as mobile postcards, sweepstakes and other prizes relating to the Minions film released this summer. The average visitor engaged with more than 10 activities on the mobile destination (ASD 4min & 36sec), proving that gamification with relevant incentives continues to be a top-tier tactic for marketers to leverage.
