1989 Dion passed his Bachelor of Commerce Degree at UCT

1992 Dion passed his Post Graduate Diploma in Advertising – specializing in Direct Marketing –  with distinction

1993 Dion started his working career in marketing and media with the Thumbprint Academy. This was a BEE training academy initiated by the SABC. He spent 2 years training and working at Yardley, Research International, Hunt Lascaris and the SABC respectively. This gave him a diverse perspective of the industry.

1996 He was employed as a radio strategist at the SABC. This primary challenge was to market SABC’s wide radio portfolio to media agencies and clients.

1999 he was promoted to Marketing Team Leader

2001 accepted the role of Television Marketing Strategist at the SABC.

2002 Dion won SABC Employee of the Year

2005 Started as a Media Implementation Planner at Ogilvy and Mather – an advertising agency.  This entailed the planning and implementation of media campaigns for MWEB, Old Mutual and Ramsay Son & Parker.

2007 Dion was offered the role of Media Manager at BBDO working on two major retail clients namely Checkers and Ackermans.

2009 BBDO Media amalgamated with Page 3 Media. He assisted in ensuring that both retail clients were retained.

2014 Dion was promoted to Channel Director at PHD – more specifically he manages PHD’s Retail Portfolio.
