Gemma Teeling, newly appointed Managing Director, PHD Ireland

Gemma Teeling has been appointed Managing Director of PHD Ireland, succeeding Jason Nebenzahl, who has held the position for the last 11 years. Nebenzahl will be moving into the role of CEO of Omnicom Media Group, Ireland, and will pass the PHD reins to Teeling at the end of the year.

Teeling joined PHD in 2014 and has been a central part of the agency’s growth and success during that period. Since she became Deputy Managing Director of PHD in 2017, PHD has had an enviable new business record, including winning FBD Insurance, KBC and the Department of the Taoiseach, amongst others. In addition, Teeling was instrumental in PHD winning Agency of the Year for the second time at the 2018 Media Awards and in winning six awards at the 2018 Advertising Effectiveness Awards, further cementing PHD’s leading league table position.

Nebenzahl said of the appointment: “I am confident that Gemma, a former IAPI Doyenne and winner of the 2018 Image Magazine Management Professional of the Year, will bring her intellect and energy to the position and that PHD will continue to deliver on our Finding a Better Way positioning here in Ireland.”

Commenting on the appointment, Teeling said, “My time at PHD Ireland has been the most exciting and fulfilling of my career. I passionately believe in the clear positioning that the PHD brand holds in Ireland and across the world. I have thoroughly enjoyed working on a diverse range of brands and collaborating with the team to grow the business and improve our offering to clients. All this has been achieved through constant support and mentorship from Jason, who has built an incredible local business and culture over the last 10 years.

“I am delighted that he has put his faith in me to take over the reigns as Managing Director and I look forward to returning in 2020. I will strive to work with our outstanding local team and global network to further grow PHD’s reputation in Ireland as delivering both innovative and effective communications plans that make a genuine difference to clients’ business.”

Philippa Brown, CEO of PHD Worldwide added, “While new to my role as Worldwide CEO of PHD, I have been aware of the success of PHD in Ireland in my previous role as CEO of OMG UK. The strength of the PHD brand in Ireland is well known within the PHD network and I know that Gemma has been a key part of this success and her energy and strategic acumen has been central to the growth of our business. It is always fantastic when we can promote strong talent internally and I look forward to working closely with Gemma and the rest of the PHD team in Ireland.”

With Teeling on maternity leave until the end of the year, Nebenzahl will continue to act as Managing Director of PHD in the interim. Teeling will take up her post as the new Managing Director in 2020.
