1998 Deborah started working in media at Net#work BBDO
1999 she moved to Draft FCB to extend her experience into sponsorship on the Vodacom business
2000 it was time for exposure to something different – a consultancy which pulled together groups of marketing specialists and listed on the stock exchange – Acuity Group Holdings
2002 with a brand new set of skills, she returned to Draft FCB, this time to work on the Toyota account
2004 She was ready to start her own media company, and went into partnership with a creative agency, doubling the media billings and having the experience of a lifetime – but also learning many things the hard way!
2006 saw Deborah taking the best of small and big agency experience into MediaCom, where she served on the board as Strategy Director, and later as Insights Director
2008 Deborah received her MBA from Rhodes Investec Business School, with a thesis in the field of ethics
2011 marked the beginning of her involvement with the SAARF board, as a representative for the AMF
2012 after six years at MediaCom, she moved to PHD Johannesburg, which at the time had a staff compliment of three!
2016 Four years and four AMASA awards later, Deborah is still at PHD – but has grown with the company, which now has 17 staff members, a high energy culture, and a track history of excellence in strategy. She is on the board for the Audit Bureau of Circulation, and on the Executive Research Committee of the AMF.
