All News News Our People

Today we’re excited to announce the promotions of two long-serving managing partners to new positions in PHD UK’s leadership team.

Sarah Nugent is promoted to managing director, London, whilst Toby Nettle is promoted to chief client officer.

Sarah, who currently runs our Warner Bros. and LG accounts and is business transformation lead on the British Heart Foundation, joined PHD from Walker Media in 2013 as business director on Mondelez.

In addition to the day-to-day running of the agency, Sarah’s new remit will also cover the championing of agency culture, diversity & inclusion and delivering business growth.

Toby is a PHD lifer, having joined as a graduate in 2003, rising through the agency to his most recent role, overseeing the Volkswagen Group UK account, the agency’s largest client.

In his new chief client officer role, Toby will be responsible for client servicing and training as well as developing new ways for PHD to add value to clients’ businesses.

Sarah and Toby will both report to PHD UK CEO Ali Reed and join the PHD Exco Leadership team. They take up their new positions immediately.

Their promotions are latest of a number of senior appointments to PHD UK’s leadership team, following the arrival of Irin Rahman as chief data & technology officer and the appointment of Lucy Barbor as chief strategy officer and Kate Browne as chief transformation officer at the end of 2021.

PHD UK CEO Ali Reed said “I’m delighted to have Toby and Sarah join our exco to help drive the next chapter of growth for PHD. They exemplify the best of our PHD values, and both have proven track records in client leadership, delivering purpose-driven, award-winning work and new business success.

I look forward to seeing their PHD experience blend with the new leadership talent arriving at the agency as we continue to push the boundaries of what businesses expect from a media agency.”

Sarah said “I’m delighted to be given this opportunity and join the senior leadership team. PHD is a rare gem – amazing talent, great clients, positive tailwinds, and an impeccably strong sense of self. I’m looking forward to helping deliver enduring success for the agency, our people and our clients.”

Toby said “Having spent my entire career at PHD I couldn’t be happier to join the agency’s senior leadership team. PHD has a reputation for being its clients’ trusted advisor and partner and as part of Ali’s leadership team, I’m looking forward to engendering that spirit further as we help our clients grow and navigate new waters.”
