PHD received two of the biggest titles at this year’s Cristal Festival, taking the overall Media Network of the Year accolade and Media Agency of the Year for Touché!PHD. The wins come just days after PHD was also named Eurobest’s Media Network of the Year for PHD’s work with client Volkswagen.

Along with the title accolades, Touché!PHD and PHD Taiwan collectively won a Grand Prix, a Gold and a Bronze award (now referred to by Cristal as MAD, Cobalt and White respectively).

Touché!PHD took home the Grand Prix and Gold awards in the Best Use of Data category for their VIA Rail campaign ‘Data vs Car’, which aimed to persuade those travelling by car that Canada’s national rail system is the best solution for travel. The campaign saw a 14% conversion rate, a 11.7% increase in ridership and a 13.9% increase in YOY revenues.

PHD Taiwan was awarded a Bronze in the Best Use of Music category for ŠKODA’s ‘CoinciDance’ campaign. The Taiwan team spotted, by coincidence, that ŠKODA’s ‘Simply Clever’ tagline sounded similar to the Taiwanese word for ‘Just Dance’, so they enlisted ‘Handsome Dancer’, a comedy team whose contagious shoulder-shaking dance video had made them a YouTube hit, and created their own version of CoinciDance, featuring ŠKODAs driving through Taiwan’s most recognisable and iconic spots. The campaign was seen by 60% of the Taiwanese population leading to a four-fold leap in the sales of the ŠKODA Rapid model that it featured, a new sales record in Taiwan.
