Auckland, New Zealand |November 15, 2018 – Spark PR & Activate recently announced a new partnership between Seventh Generation and charity Million Metres that will see the restoration of Aotearoa’s waterways and wetlands.
Wetlands are the kidneys of the earth, filtering pollutants and contaminants before they reach our rivers and oceans. Currently, only 10% of Aotearoa’s historic wetlands remain. Seventh Generation, with the support of Spark PR & Activate, is aiming to inspire a green revolution as the brand launches in New Zealand. This includes a bold awareness and fundraising campaign alongside Million Metres to restore the country’s natural resources for generations to come.
The first project focuses on the restoration of the Rangihoua Wetland on Waiheke Island, working alongside the Waiheke Resources Trust. Spark PR & Activate, Seventh Generation and Million Metres have the bold aim of fundraising $50,000 this summer to plant 2,700 native trees and shrubs over 758 metres of wetland. For every donation received, Seventh Generation have pledged to match fund, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000.
spark rDallas Gurney, Spark PR & Activate managing director, said the Seventh Generation campaign and the Million Metres Project partnership is a special one.
“We have absolutely loved supporting Seventh Generation as they launch in New Zealand. The cause is important for the preservation of what makes New Zealand special, our natural resources and environment, so it is particularly close to our hearts. We are looking forward to working with our partners to bring this to life and shine a light on the importance of restoring and looking after our country,” Gurney says.
Spark PR & Activate and Seventh Generation officially launched the partnership by recreating a wetland in Auckland’s downtown Takutai Square. Iconic Kiwi artist, Flox, was created aa bespoke wetland mural on-site.With each donation, Flox continued to bring to life the design of a restored wetland and each panel will be auctioned on Trademe, with funds going towards the restoration project. Seventh Generation laundry detergent and dish wash was handed out with every gold coin donation.
In addition to the fundraising efforts, Spark PR & Activate is working with Seventh Generation New Zealand ambassador, Madeline Sami, and Mediaworks to create content to launch the project which can be viewed across her social channels and Mediaworks platforms.
