PHD has developed an outdoor campaign in Australia for Volkswagen’s Golf 7.5, bringing a model’s hand gesture controls to life using digital screens.

Using creative from DDB, the OOH campaign features a child dreaming about what it will be like to drive his future car, highlighting the use of gesture controls by using Adshel panels to change music tracks, like in the car.

Volkswagen brand communications manager Julia Reimnitz said the panels would be situated at bus shelters across Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane.

“The Golf brings a number of new, first to market technologies such as gesture control to the small car segment, so naturally we wanted to be fresh and innovative in the way we use traditional out of home media,” Reimnitz added.

The campaign is also being supported with 360-degree videos on YouTube with the child star conducting a personal tour of the Golf.
