News Wins

PHD Australia has been appointed as Tennis Australia’s media agency of record following a competitive tender process which commenced in May. The appointment is effective immediately and will see PHD work with Tennis Australia to grow the popularity of events like the Australian Open and the ATP Cup as well as getting more people playing tennis.

PHD Australia’s Melbourne office has a special affinity with tennis having helped client ANZ Bank activate their sponsorship of the AO for the past 9 years as well as working with Carlton & United Brewery brand Peroni to capitalise on their position as official beer partner of the Australian Open.

Commenting on the appointment, Simon Lawson, PHD Australia’s General Manager for Melbourne said: “We felt an immediate connection with the team at Tennis Australia and worked very hard during the process to convince them that PHD was their ideal next partner to help them increase the sophistication with which they make their media investments to grow the game: I’m so pleased our efforts were successful”.

Commenting on the appointment, Josie Brown, Tennis Australia’s Chief Insights and Marketing Officer said “We went to market to tender our media agency provider and conducted an appropriately thorough process for such a key decision for our business. In the end, PHD best demonstrated they had heard and understood our business requirements for the AO. A particular attraction is PHD’s proposed range of tools and technology solutions to help us get to market faster and act with great agility on data trends.”
