Helen Brown, PHD New Zealand’s Group Investment Director, fought off stiff competition to win aspirational magazine NEXT’s 2019 Women in Media Scholarship.
The NEXT scholarship supports women in local media who are making a positive impact for good by awarding the winner $10,000 to spend on furthering their career.
“Helen stood out not only for her impressive achievements throughout her career and the way she’d progressed through the business to one of the most senior roles, but also for her plans to try and improve the culture of the male-dominated area (investment) in which she works,” says NEXT editor-in-chief Nicky Dewe.
“Her ambition is to create a better environment for her team to be able to produce outstanding results in the midst of an ever-evolving media environment. She hopes to use the prize money to attend Dr Brené Brown’s Dare to Lead™ programme, which will equip her with the skills to realise this goal.”
