Interview: Tell us about yourself
Tell us about yourself
My name is Hugo; I am 26 years old, originally from Gothenburg but have lived in Stockholm for the past 2 years. I have a bachelor’s degree in media communication focusing on digital media & analysis at Karlstad University and graduated in the spring of 2020.
How did you hear about PHD and why were you attracted to it?
The beginning of 2020 was not the best time to be a newly graduated, with a global pandemic changing how things were done. I had seen PHD ad on Linkedin, and I applied with the hope to get a position there. At the same time, I was applying for approximately 10-20 jobs a day (without exaggerating). It did eventually pay off PHD, found my academic-background interesting as a candidate for the position as Coordinator in the Programmatic team. And yes, the rest is history, I guess.
What have you been doing at PHD?
At PHD I primarily work with H&M – both global and local. H&M is a very fun and knowledgeable client. My team at PHD Sweden manages campaigns for 18 countries. Besides them, I also work with the Volkswagen team.
You started as Prog Coordinator and now have been promoted to Specialist? What did you need to do to grow in your position?
I think the main reason for my promotion is due to that I have taken significant responsibility for my clients; I am not afraid to fail because my team is there to back me up. PHD has given me the trust to take responsibility and grow my knowledge and technical skills within programmatic buying. It has been gratifying. And it doesn’t hurt to think that excel is pretty fun.
What do you feel is the most valuable knowledge you learned?
I think it is that don’t be afraid to ask questions, because you cannot know everything from the start, and to be honest – how could you? Thus, the most valuable asset you have at PHD is your colleagues, they can help you both in the short as well as in the long run to grow as an individual.
Why do you think PHD is a good place to start your career?
As mentioned earlier, I think one of the best characteristics of PHD is that they’re not afraid to give responsibility to new employees even if you’re new in the business. It can feel scary to take so much responsibility at first, but it’s very valuable, rewarding, and makes you grow faster than you could ever imagine. Look at me, I have worked at PHD for briefly 2 years and got promoted to a specialist; hard work pays off, and nothing is impossible at PHD.
