Interview: Tell us about yourself

Tell us about yourself

My name is Marcus and I was born in Stockholm, 27 years later and I’m still in the same city, and I thrive extremely well. I am currently working at PHD as an SEO coordinator. For the past two years I have been studying Digital Marketing at Stockholms internationella handelsskola, and I graduated in May this year. In my spare time, I play floorball and football, and I also like to have a drink in town when Covid-19 is not ravaging around.

Why did you choose your education?

I have always been interested in the media landscape where there is room to be creative. My education was very broad and we studied many different parts of Digital Marketing, which became a good way for me to find out in which areas I could see myself working.

What have you been doing at PHD?

During my internship at PHD, I have been an SEM / SEO trainee, where I worked with the different parts of search advertising. The further into the internship I got, the more I felt that SEO was the right thing for me. Among other things, I have produced keyword- and page structured analyzes for various websites and web pages.

How has it been so far your internship and now as a coordinator?

It has been a developing period to start as a trainee and to now work as an SEO Coordinator. During the journey, I have learned a lot. It has been a special transition because I have worked at home since I was hired, which has made me more independent in my work.

How was in the beginning when you started at PHD?

I was well taken care of at the beginning of my time at PHD. All departments performed briefly on what they do at the company and there were many impressions to take in. I joined customer meetings as early as my first week and sometimes it felt like they spoke another language. I did however get into it over time and got all the help and support I needed. Now I have learned the “foreign language” too.

What do you feel is your most valuable knowledge from this time?

I have got much valuable knowledge and insights from this time. An insight that I can share with others who are going out on an internship is not to worry about knowing everything in the beginning. The company is well aware that most things are new to you and you are there to learn. And last but not least, ask questions! There are no stupid questions.

Why do you think PHD is a good place to do your internship?

I think that PHD is a good internship because it is a company that takes good care of its trainees. You get into the work easily as there are guides, templates, and best practice documents to use if you need to, and of course, you get good help from colleagues and your supervisor too. In addition, we have very nice After Works with quiz competitions and FIFA tournaments for example.

How long is your internship program?

My internship was 30 weeks, so I really had time to get into the work before I became a coordinator.
