PHD Ireland ranked 2nd in the recent Microsoft/OmnicomMediaGroup global competition “The Microsoft Innovation Initiative”.
The Microsoft Innovation Initiative is a global partnership between Microsoft and Omnicom, aimed to encourage creativity and innovation with Microsoft products. The prize was a trip to the Cannes Lions Festival in June.
The challenge set was to develop a campaign on the Xbox advertising platform and support with at least one other Microsoft platform. The campaign presented had to be in response to either a current client brief or, one received in the past 6 months.
All entrants in local markets presented to their local Microsoft Team and agency senior management and were scored based on the above criteria. There were approximately 70 entries in total and the top scoring entry from each market was put forward to the global judging panel. These entries were shortlisted to 7 finalists. The PHD Ireland Mondelez Team was the only PHD entry to make the final rounds. The team consisted of Gemma Teeling, Simone Parfrey and Ciara Power.

- East Coast US Warner Brothers Team
- Canada Pet Smart Team
- Brazil Pedigree Team
- LATAM Hilton Team
- Australia Mazda Team
- Russia McDonald’s Team
The East Coast US Warner Brothers team were the overall winners with PHD taking home 2nd place.
