PHD celebrates #EachforEqual across the network for International Women’s Day 2020

News

PHD offices across world kicked off March with offline and online activities in support of International Women’s Day and this year’s theme of #EachforEqual, which embodies the idea of ‘collective individualism’. Collectively, we can make change happen. Collectively, we can each help to create a gender equal world.

Here is a select highlight of some of the IWD activities that took place at PHD offices throughout the week:

PHD Worldwide

A call was put out to all PHD offices for PHDers – across all genders, offices and roles – to snap a photo in the #EachforEqual pose and write a few words on what International Women’s Day means to them. The submissions poured in from across the network, resulting in more than 150 responses. A selection of images were shared on PHD’s global social media accounts, with a full album available on Facebook.

Philippa Brown, CEO of PHD Worldwide, also championed #EachforEqual with an internal newsletter highlighting some of the recent achievements of women leaders at PHD.

PHD leaders from Hong Kong, Canada, Spain, Malaysia, New Zealand, Ireland, Australia and the US were also quoted in WeAreTheCity’s piece on the meaning of International Women’s Day.

PHD US

PHD Chicago hosted their annual International Women’s Day  event, #EachForEqual, in partnership with Omniwomen. PHDers enjoyed lunch and lively discussions about equality in the workplace. To make the event even sweeter, PHD Chicago’s own Erin Kelley baked some special IWD-themed treats.

PHD US put together a custom Women’s History Month playlist which played throughout the office. They also showcased PHD’s global #EachforEqual responses across screens in their office’s common areas.

PHD New Zealand

The PHD New Zealand team wrote personal quotes on what meaning gender equality has in their lives and displayed these around their office. PHDers were also invited to wear purple on Monday 9th Mark and make a donation to Dress for Success, a charity that provides women with the support and the tools they need to gain employment and financial independence. They also personally selected inspirational books authored by women for 50 of their female clients.

PHD Spain

Spain PHDers arrived at their offices on the Monday morning to a small gift on their desks, as well as a newsletter explaining the importance of International Women’s Day, how PHD’s agency colour (purple) reflects the key themes of International Women’s Day, along with two articles on women in advertising (past and present).

PHD Taiwan & PHD Belgium

Great teams think alike, even across continents. Both PHD Taiwan and PHD Belgium came together for a photo shoot of their whole office, which each team member posing for #EachforEqual.

PHD China

PHD China embraced #EachforEqual and took this difficult period as an opportunity to care more for their local communities. In order to give our communities a #PHDBigHug4China (as part of PHD’s CSR, Big Hug), PHD China CEO Anny Chitty united everyone to do a little decluttering and donate reusable items (clothing, bags, electronics) to those in need. While PHD China colleagues were working remotely at home, it became the perfect timing to give back and inspire PHDers to support an equal world.

PHD Czech Republic

In the Czech Republic gingerbread cookies are often elaborately decorated for festive celebrations. PHD Czech Republic gifted everyone bouquets of gingerbread flowers in celebration.
