PHD UK wins Cannes Media Lion for ‘Heart Stopping’ British Heart Foundation campaign

Award Wins

On Wednesday (June 21), we were delighted that our ‘Heart Stopping’ campaign for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) was awarded a Silver Lion for ‘Media Execution’ at the Cannes Media Lions 2023.

The win made PHD the only UK media agency to win a Media Lion at the festival this year.

‘Heart Stopping’ was a collaborative partnership with Global to raise awareness of the British Heart Foundation’s research funding into genetic heart disease.

The campaign saw the BHF stop the UK’s biggest radio network – Heart – by sending the ads of seven well-known UK brands into ‘cardiac arrest’, flatlining their radio ads with a heart monitor sound before delivering a message about the charity’s largest ever research grant into genetic cardiomyopathies.

You can read about how the campaign came about HERE

And you can watch the full case film, below.

Outside of the UK, our sister PHD agencies also took home Media Lions, with PHD New Zealand winning Gold and Bronze Lions for its ‘Skinny: Phone it in’ campaign and PHD Chicago winning a Bronze for ‘Certified Care’ a campaign created for Raid, entered by Energy BBDO.

Philippa Brown, PHD Worldwide CEO said “Our belief in the power of creative thinking keeps us at the forefront of the industry’s most prestigious awards, and these wins prove it that it is helping us our clients leap ahead of their competitors”.
