Mike Cooper scooped Media Leader of the Year in last night’s glittering ceremony. The annual Media Week Awards champion business impact and innovation in the commercial media industry and remain the biggest and most recognised event of the year.

The impact of Mike Cooper’s tenacity, passion and determination is clear in PHD’s win of the $3 billion Volkswagen Group media account in 2016. This was no ‘one-off’ with the network winning HSBC’s $400 million global media account earlier this year, on top of extending its footprint in businesses such as Ferrero and Delta.
In R3 Worldwide’s current “2018 Media Agencies New Business League”, PHD Worldwide took first place with 155 account wins. While The Gunn Media Report 2018 confirmed PHD as the second most awarded media agency in the world.
The performance of PHD over the past decade, in particular, has been driven by the phenomenal leadership and stewardship of Cooper. He launched PHD in APAC in 2005, then returned to London in 2007 to take up the role of CEO PHD Worldwide – a role he continues to excel in.
The Media Leader of the Year award was launched this year in partnership with The Lighthouse Company. It was set up to recognise those who drive business performance, express great leadership and growth, lead the development of company culture, show the ability to drive transformation and demonstrate their personal contribution to the wider media industry.
Judges from across the industry deliberated over the best campaigns from agencies and media owners to reward the finest work produced over the past 12 months.
