PHD is celebrating after playing a key role in MTN Group’s decision to name Omnicom Media Group as their lead agency partner across its footprint following a competitive pitch process.
MTN is a leading emerging market operator delivering a bold new digital world to customers in 21 countries in Africa and the Middle East. Their strategy has a major focus on growth in data, fintech and digital business.
PHD takes up the position of global lead agency (previously the incumbent in some of the markets), in a role across the MENA region, with sister agency OMD responsible for planning and buying.
Wayne Bishop, managing director, PHD Johannesburg commented: “PHD is exceptionally proud to have played a lead role on the media submission for the 11-month MTN pitch process. It was an absolute pleasure to be able to show the MTN team the power of an operating system like Omni Studio which helped us co-create the responses across all of our Omnicom offices in the region. We look forward to furthering MTN’s brand strength in Africa and can’t wait for the next chapter in our relationship.”
Bernice Samuels, group executive for marketing at MTN, added: “MTN is delighted with the outcome of the global marketing services RFP. The calibre of submissions from all bidders was of an exceptional standard, despite the unusual circumstances we find ourselves in.
“Omnicom proved themselves not just as a creative powerhouse, but also demonstrated solid commitment to partner with MTN in achieving our common goal to contribute to Africa’s progress,” she concluded.
