Campaign’s Global Agency of the Year Award winners have been announced, and PHD Worldwide CEO, Philippa Brown, has been crowned Agency Leader of the Year.
Brown’s vision – set out in the first few months of her new global role – is to ensure that PHD is ‘the most strategic and creative media network in a data and tech world’. Brown introduced a number of initiatives, including ‘Global Creativity Week’, where teams from across the globe showcase their best work.
In 2020, with the impact of Covid-19 felt across the world, Brown encouraged her leadership team to focus on delivering a strong strategic planning product, enabling client teams to identify the right approaches to help their clients in challenging times. She was also instrumental in the launch of PHD’s content and digital commerce offerings, DRUM and Transact, and identified new opportunities to drive growth for clients.
Judges were impressed by Brown’s output in her first year in her new role, praising her leadership skills, performance, creativity and culture building. They said: “She should create a master class on how to run a successful global agency network.”
Brown’s experience and knowledge of media, marketing and communications have made her one of the most respected individuals in the industry. She is the current Chair of the Advertising Association Board and this year’s Media Lions Jury President for Cannes Lions and a Trustee of the breast cancer charity, Future Dreams.
With a focus on growth, creativity and challenge, Brown has successfully set a new ambition and energy for PHD, culminating in PHD being named Campaign’s EMEA Media Network of the Year 2020 and UK Media Agency of the Year 2020, as well as M&M Global Network of the Year 2020 and Festival of Media North America’s Network of the Year 2020. Local markets such as France, Canada, China, Hong Kong and Australia also picked up Agency of the Year awards, showing consistency of offering across the globe.
